What is it?

It's an educational website, aimed at Key Stage 3/4 pupils learning parts of the body in languages. It was created as a final year project for my degree, and went live in early 2002.

I decided to keep it live after that, and it still seems to attract a large number of users (there have been 43,000 unique visitors over the last year), and I get fairly regular e-mails from teachers saying how they've been using it in their lessons, and the kids really like it - and do I have any other topics in the series. The answer is unfortunately no, but if any educational publisher is interested in taking it up, I'm open to offers!

It's a site that,
although it's probably looking a bit dated now, I still really like. It tries to teach in an interesting way - making it feel like a set of games, rather than an educational task. A lot of the ideas were based on going into a school and doing research with kids of the target age group - which I guess shows that user testing pays off! The site also won an award from the Association of Educational Communications and Technology - which is nice!

I suspect this would be a lot easier to create now, as a lot of the stuff I had to programme from scratch (such as multiple language support, a lot of the drag and drop testing, etc) is now done natively in Flash.
